Why I Built This
December 2024
I built SwarmHealth because diabetes doesn't take days off. It's there at 3am when your CGM alarm goes off. It's there at Thanksgiving dinner when everyone's eating pie and you're doing math in your head. It's there every single day, asking for your attention, your energy, your willpower.
And most of the time? You're managing it alone.
The Problem
Healthcare is broken. You get 15 minutes with your endo every 3 months. They look at your A1C, maybe adjust a dose, and send you on your way. But what about the other 129,585 minutes in between?
What about when you're exhausted and don't know if you should exercise or rest? When you're staring at a menu and everything looks like a carb bomb? When your feet are tingling and you're scared but don't want to bother anyone?
The Solution
SwarmHealth is an AI companion that actually understands diabetes. Not from a textbook. From the trenches.
It knows that:
- French fries hit different than sweet potato fries. And sometimes you need real alternatives, not lectures.
- Foot care prevents amputations. Daily inspection isn't optional. It's survival.
- A 10-minute walk after dinner can cut your spike by 30%. Movement is medicine.
- Burnout is real. You're not weak for feeling exhausted by something that never stops.
- Vitamins matter when you're on Metformin. B12 gets depleted. Most people don't know.
Why Free?
Because diabetes is already expensive enough. Test strips. Insulin. CGMs. Pump supplies. The last thing you need is another subscription.
This runs on open-source AI. No venture capital. No data harvesting. No upsells. Just a tool that helps people, built by people who give a damn.
What This Is (and Isn't)
This IS: A supportive companion that gives you real, actionable guidance. Food swaps. Exercise tips. Foot care routines. Someone to talk to when it's 3am and you're tired of fighting alone.
This ISN'T: A replacement for your doctor. We don't prescribe insulin doses. We don't diagnose. For emergencies, call 911. For mental health crises, call 988.
The Hive
We call it The Hive because we're stronger together. Every person managing diabetes is part of this collective struggle. We share what works. We lift each other up. We heal together.
This is just the beginning. Diabetes companion today. More conditions tomorrow. The Hive keeps growing.
